JavaScript was created in may 1995 by Brendan Eich. JavaScript was originally called Mocha, given by the CEO of Netscape, Marc Andreessen, who was Brendan's boss at the time. It was renamed from Mocha to LiveScript until December the same year when they received a trademark license and the name was changed to JavaScript because of Java was very popular then
